Prayer Shawl

This ministry began with a group of women who joined together out of their love for fellowship, crocheting / knitting and a desire to be used by God. This ministry has taken off and now these wonderful gifts of love can be found all over the country. Patients in nursing homes, Beth-Shan Ministries and hospitals have been recipients of these prayer shawls and lap robes.

We thank God for the opportunity that this ministry has provided to be used as a gift of love to those who are sick and who are sorrowing. The prayer that is prayed when giving the healing shawl is:” As you wrap yourself in the Prayer Shawl / Lap Robe of comfort…May the Father of Mercy, the Savior of Peace, and the Spirit of Compassion wrap you in their all-encompassing love this day.”

This prayer is shared with the recipient of the shawl so they know the love that goes into it.

Simple directions for a Prayer Shawl are:

Yarn: Use 3 skeins of yarn
(It’s washable and very forgiving of mistakes!)
Needles: Use size 13, 15, or 17. These needles provide for a loose weave and make the project go fast.
To begin: Cast on 63 stitches
Pattern: Knit 3, purl 3 to the end of the row. (Be sure to set aside enough yarn if you choose to make the fringe for both sides otherwise knit until yarn is gone.)

Bible Study

We have several opportunities for Bible Study. Our Sunday evening service includes either a topical or exegetical study.

The topical studies often come from our Friday night movies events. Some of the movies we have used for several weeks of study include “The List” and most recently, “The Ultimate Gift.”

Some of the Bible studies are more formal while others are intended to be discussion based.

The women’s Bible Study meets in the Fellowship Hall and focus on different topics throughout the year. They study on the second Tuesday morning of every month. They also include a time of fellowship with snacks and coffee.

Other Bible studies that come up from time to time are: “Bible 101” for those just learning about the Bible and “Journey” an in depth look at the books of the Bible.  We often offer informal and discussion based studies.  These groups meet in the coffee lounge off of the Fellowship Hall and happen throughout the year.  If you have an intrest in a topic let us know!

You are welcome to join any of these studies. Dates and times will be posted on this page, so check back often!

Fidelis Circle

FIDELIS is the Ladies Bible Study group – (Faith Is Devoting Each Day In Service). We strive to glorify God as women united in devoting ourselves to Jesus Christ.

FIDELIS meets the first Tuesday of each month at 10:00 A.M. from September through May for Bible Study, fellowship, and refreshments.

FIDELIS also plans an annual church Lenten breakfast and November women’s Christmas party.

FIDELIS is open to women of all ages.

XYZ is a loosely organized group whose purpose is to provide fellowship and fun for those who have reached the milestone of fifty-five years of age (although all are welcome) – by cultivating old and new friendships through a time of fellowship at a monthly breakfast at a local restaurant. We meet the third Thursday of every month.

Kid Connection

Kid Connection is a weekly time for connecting kids with God through His Word, using songs, games, and drama. We learn about Old Testament stories this year and New Testament stories next year. Kids 3 years old to 8th grade are invited to join the fun from 11:00 A.M. to Noon on Sundays (September to May).

Summer means VBS!  This exciting week is like none you have ever experienced.  VBS (which stands for Vacation Bible School) has been a vital ministry to our church for over 45 years. Each summer our VBS program reaches out to the children of our church and community.

Back in 1999, a member of our congregation was asked to take over the VBS program.  She graciously took over the challenge and has grown the program to what it is today.

VBS is a week long program geared for ALL children ages 3 through the completion of 6th grade. The program is held in the evenings, usually during a week in June or July. This year our VBS is scheduled for the week of July 6-10. Throughout the week the children will be involved in various activities including fun singing, great games, interesting Bible lessons, awesome crafts and tasty snacks. All the activities are centered around a theme for the week. The children are assigned to various groups and compete against each other by earning various items that they receive each night. They earn these items by participating in various activities. One activity is our mission project in which the children are asked to bring in various items each night to help support local organizations such as schools, pregnancy centers, hospitals, etc.

Our VBS program is of no cost to the children and their families. We just ask that you participate in our mission project.

At the end of the VBS week, we have a closing program that enables the families to share in what their children have learned throughout the past week. This fun event is open to the entire family and always is a highlight of the week.

Information and the theme for VBS this year is available June 1st.  Continue to check out this website for the information to be posted! We hope to provide the forms online through this web site or you may call the church office to obtain a pre-registration form.

G.R.A.C.E. Girl’s Club

G.R.A.C.E. Girls Club is open to all girls ages 6-14 or grades 1-8.  G.R.A.C.E. stands for Girls Ready to Accept Christ’s Embrace.

The club meets September-May on the second and fourth Friday of every month.  At each meeting the girls enjoy a night of singing, badge work, crafts, and a Bible lesson.

The mission of the club is for the girls to build relationships not only with other girls, but with Christ.

Children’s Church

Children’s Church is for children three years old through the fourth grade. Children gather with their parents in the sanctuary for music, prayer and a children’s message.   During the hymn before the sermon our children go to their special classroom in room 203 in the Education building, where children explore the Bible in various ways. We listen to Bible stories and engage in crafts, coloring pages, activities and games.
