This ministry began with a group of women who joined together out of their love for fellowship, crocheting / knitting and a desire to be used by God. This ministry has taken off and now these wonderful gifts of love can be found all over the country. Patients in nursing homes, Beth-Shan Ministries and hospitals have been recipients of these prayer shawls and lap robes.
We thank God for the opportunity that this ministry has provided to be used as a gift of love to those who are sick and who are sorrowing. The prayer that is prayed when giving the healing shawl is:” As you wrap yourself in the Prayer Shawl / Lap Robe of comfort…May the Father of Mercy, the Savior of Peace, and the Spirit of Compassion wrap you in their all-encompassing love this day.”
This prayer is shared with the recipient of the shawl so they know the love that goes into it.
Simple directions for a Prayer Shawl are:
|Yarn:||Use 3 skeins of yarn
(It’s washable and very forgiving of mistakes!)
|Needles:||Use size 13, 15, or 17. These needles provide for a loose weave and make the project go fast.|
|To begin:||Cast on 63 stitches|
|Pattern:||Knit 3, purl 3 to the end of the row. (Be sure to set aside enough yarn if you choose to make the fringe for both sides otherwise knit until yarn is gone.)|
